Barwell Recycling & Waste Site Summer Hours

All waste sites will change to the new summer hours on 1st April 2025. Sites will be open from 9.00am to 5.00pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, and from 9.00am to 7.00pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Barwell site is closed Thursdays and Fridays.

Spring Clean

The Waste Initiatives team are encouraging Leicestershire residents to think about how they 'Spring Clean' this year. The advice is that it is always best to keep items in use and not put them into the waste stream, remembering reuse is better than recycling if it is possible.
Suggestions include:

• Clothes – sell, swap, or place them in a clothes bank. Do not let them go into bins at home.

• Household items that are in good condition can be taken to ReHome Zones or other places that will reuse them. The zones can be found here https://www.lesswaste.org.uk/reuse/waste-prevention-reuse-map

• Cleaning products – use them up before buying new and recycle the empty bottles without the trigger sprays.
